Yoga Improves Flexibility

Stretching is a key part of Yoga and improved flexibility translates into increased mobility as we continue to age. As young kids flexibility comes pretty naturally to us but maintaining that flexibility becomes increasingly important as the years go by.

Having lived in Vancouver all my life it feels like we're in the Yoga capital of the world. I've never been to India and I imagine there are many other places that Yoga is popular - but Yoga studios are like Starbucks here in Vancouver (I'm not sure how far Starbuck's Coffee franchise reaches elsewhere in the world - but I there are 5 within a four block radius of my house here in Vancouver). Yoga is definately huge in Vancouver.

And I don't mean she's doing a headstand when I say that Chrisandra Fox is standing on her head in this yoga photo. I mean her legs are arched right back until her feet are resting on her head - while she supports herself with her forearms. Awesome!

Female Yoga - Both Legs Supported on Elbows

Nice form by this girl practicing yoga. Pointed toes on both feet as she balances on her elbows supported only by hands. Her legs are kept perfectly horizontal and the camera angle does a great job of capturing this. Once again I'm too new to yoga to know the proper name for the position but then this is as much a photography blog as a yoga blog, so you're just going to have to bear with me for awhile longer. Living in Vancouver there are tons of yoga studios just a few blocks from my door but when you have a three year old and another one on the way time just seems to dissapear :)
