Red White and Lotus Yoga Position

a little relaxing, originally uploaded by henikeke2.

While it may not be necessary that this woman's fingernails and toenails match her yoga pants, one could argue that it enhances the harmony created by her striking lotus position.

Female Yoga Outdoors

As best I can tell this female is practicing yoga outdoors in the Philippines. Great angles created by her body as she arches back to grab her toes.

Yoga Silhouette at Sunrise on the Beach

Yoga Sun at any beach of the World., originally uploaded by Eric Lon.

Yoga lends itself to photography so well and truth be told I probably have at least as much interest in photography as I do in yoga, if not more. I love the seemingly unnatural positions yogis contort their bodies into. Sunrise and sunset pictures are a dime a dozen but when you add the silhouette of someone practicing yoga it can create interest that the very best sunset pictures still lack.

Yoga Posture - Unsupported Neck Stand

Asanas, originally uploaded by drea_beijing.

I'm guessing this is an advanced yoga position - an neck stand with no support from hands. Kids - don't try this at home without a professional yoga instructor ready to catch you!

Tibetan Yoga on the Snow in Nepal

Tibetan Yoga and Trekking above Dharamsala. India., originally uploaded by Eric Lon.

High in the mountains is a great place for one's spirit to connect with the beauty of nature making snow covered mountain tops an ideal place to practice yoga - unfortunately for most of us, it's not very convenient for a yoga workout on your lunch break.

Chrisandra Fox Standing on Her Head

Chrisandra Fox, originally uploaded by FaernWorks.

And I don't mean she's doing a headstand when I say that Chrisandra Fox is standing on her head in this yoga photo. I mean her legs are arched right back until her feet are resting on her head - while she supports herself with her forearms. Awesome!

Female Yoga - Both Legs Supported on Elbows

kakásana, originally uploaded by pimentinha37.

Nice form by this girl practicing yoga. Pointed toes on both feet as she balances on her elbows supported only by hands. Her legs are kept perfectly horizontal and the camera angle does a great job of capturing this. Once again I'm too new to yoga to know the proper name for the position but then this is as much a photography blog as a yoga blog, so you're just going to have to bear with me for awhile longer. Living in Vancouver there are tons of yoga studios just a few blocks from my door but when you have a three year old and another one on the way time just seems to dissapear :)

Very Flexible Yoga Girl

This woman practicing yoga shows off her extreme flexibility in a pose that just looks artistic, if not unnatural.
